The Artin field is a number field associated to an Artin representation $\rho:\mathrm{Gal}(\overline{\Q}/\Q)\to\GL(V)$ by being the smallest Galois extension $K/\mathbb{Q}$ such that $\rho$ factors through $\mathrm{Gal}(K/\Q)$.
